General :
To attract more members in the early stages of their career, IFA in 2005 adopted the Young IFA Network (YIN) initiative. The Executive Committee established the YIN Committee consisting of young IFA members to develop, propose and implement programmes, both at the Branch level and worldwide, to make IFA more attractive to young members. Also, the Branches were invited to take corresponding action at the Branch level.

YIN was officially launched at the 2006 Amsterdam Congress and some of the YIN ideas have already been realised by several Branches. Also at the Kyoto IFA Congress there are special YIN events which are listed below. Participants interested are asked to fill in the relevant part of the Congress registration form.

The Young IFA Network continues to grow. In 2014 the YIN Committee has taken new initiatives to enhance the participation of YIN members in various IFA activities and to expand the reach of YIN amongst young professionals at various Branch levels. At the Mumbai meeting of the Executive Committee in October 2014, the Chair of the YIN Committee, Kristine Ilstad, presented a summary of all YIN activities and the plans for the future. These include further strengthening the YIN communication infrastructure and establishing a good network amongst the YIN Representatives. With thanks to the past and present YIN Committee, YIN is growing in size as well as in activities. IFA's Executive Committee is very pleased with this development and wishes to encourage the participation of young international tax practitioners and academics in IFA worldwide.

The use of information and communication technology :
The YIN website has been integrated into the IFA website in order to facilitate access to relevant information about the YIN organization and world-wide activities, the YIN Awards and YIN Contact Persons at both central and local level. By logging into the website you can access recorded YIN webinars covering various topics related to international tax and more. The YIN facebook page, Young IFA Network - YIN - Official has been launched to provide you with information on YIN events as well.

YIN at the Annual IFA Congress :
The trend that was set during the Congresses in Amsterdam, Kyoto, Brussels, Vancouver, Rome, Paris, Boston, Copenhagen and Mumbai and will continue for the 10th time in Basel for the 2015 Congress with a fully sponsored slate of YIN events. In cooperation with the Indian Organizing Committee, the Young IFA Network (YIN) has again organized various successful activities during the Mumbai Congress: the traditional Meet & Greet reception for YIN Members and IFA Members attending their first Congress; a very interesting YIN Seminar featuring the winning theses of the Mitchell B. Carroll and Maurice Laure Prizes 2014 and a moot court; a special meeting for the YIN Representatives of each IFA Branch; the YIN Fun Run and a dynamic YIN party on the Wednesday evening.

YIN in the Branches :
The number of Branches that have successfully launched YIN programmes is growing steadily. Initiatives to organize low-threshold scientific meetings in many countries have proven to be successful in attracting young tax professionals to IFA. The Branches play a significant role in this undertaking, and we call upon Branches who have not yet organized YIN programmes to appoint a YIN Representative and to become active as well. A growing Young IFA Network is essential for IFA's future!
